How to practice speaking Chinese?
Hear one sentence and say it back once. That is how to practice speaking Chinese on the beginner oral outline. Five sentences sit on that paper's last two questions.
Written October 3, 2026. Say the sentence back once, then keep the five-sentence line on the last two questions.
How to practice speaking Chinese? Hear one sentence and say it back once. The HSK oral outline writes “第一部分,共 15 题。每题播放一个句子,考生听后重复一次。”, so the first part has 15 items, a sentence is played, and the candidate repeats it once after listening. If you have not said a line out loud yet, open how to start learning Chinese and say one sentence-bank line before that paper.
Fifteen items, said back once
Those 15 items are the practice on this page. The outline's notice for that part lists 15 items and 4 minutes. The same HSK oral outline writes: “全部考试约 17 分钟(含准备时间 7 分钟)。” The whole beginner oral test is about 17 minutes, including 7 minutes to prepare.
The second part plays a question
After the repeats, the paper changes the job. The HSK oral outline writes: “第二部分,共 10 题。每题播放一个问题,考生听后做简短回答。” The second part has 10 items. A question is played, and the candidate gives a short answer after listening.
Say the sentence back when the item is a sentence. Answer when the item is a question. Today, if you are alone, stay on the first part.
Five sentences sit on the last two questions
The beginner paper's third part is a different length. The HSK oral outline writes: “第三部分,共 2 题。试卷上提供两个问题(加拼音),考生回答问题,每题至少说 5 句话。” The third part has two items. The paper gives two questions, with pinyin. The candidate answers them and says at least five sentences on each question.
Keep that length on those two questions. The repeat items above stay at one sentence, said back once.
The intermediate paper's last two questions
The intermediate oral paper still opens with a repeat: 10 items, a sentence played, said back once. Then two pictures, and the candidate says a stretch of speech from each picture. The last part is the line to read beside the beginner rule. The HSK oral outline writes: “第三部分,共 2 题。试卷上提供两个问题(加拼音),考生回答问题。” The third part has two items. The paper gives two questions, with pinyin, and the candidate answers them. The whole intermediate paper is about 21 minutes, including 10 minutes to prepare.
The advanced paper opens with three passages: a passage is played, and the candidate recounts it. The next item puts a paragraph on the paper for the candidate to read aloud. The last two questions are read, then answered. The outline puts that paper at about 24 minutes, including 10 minutes to prepare.
One chosen line still lives on the sentence bank
A line you already chose is a different exercise from a sentence the outline plays once. Open the sentence bank and say that line twice when the line is yours. The repeat on the oral outline is the one a recording plays for you.
A green check on a speaking exercise is explained on what a Chinese tone checker is actually measuring. How the written paper and the oral paper stay apart is how long it takes to learn Chinese.
What waits until another page
